About Our Services

     
Educational Classes 

Social-sexual education classes and activities are designed to support people with developmental disabilities relate effectively with others in their community. Seeds instructors tailor the classes to meet the specific needs of each group. For many students, the classes are an introduction to social norms, sexual education, relationships, boundaries, abuse awareness and prevention. The classes and activities provide a safe environment for students to learn, ask questions and practice new skills.

Seeds Educational Services offers many classes throughout San Diego County.  Classes are offered both during the day and in the evening to adults with developmental disabilities.  These classes are taught in small-to-large group settings and teach socialization, boundaries, abuse awareness, and prevention. 

Socialization Events (party events) are offered five times a year to augment skills learned in classes and offer a safe environment for students to practice and offer socialization opportunities.

In Services And Training

Seeds Educational Services offers curriculum and training for professionals who assist people with developmental disabilities. These training programs are geared toward developing the necessary tools and strategies that are needed to support students.

Topics addressed include: Relationships/ Boundaries, Socio/Sexual Skills in the Community/Private, Abuse Awareness/Prevention, Nursing Needs/Health, Developmental Syndromes and Fire Safety.

     
Behavioral Consulting

Behavioral consulting is provided as individualized and smal group education sessions. These consultations address immediate concerns that cannot be appropriately handled in a classroom environment and may require specialized training.


Consultations are offered at the Seeds Educational Services office in Old Town near the Trolley/Bus station or at the individual’s work or home environment.

     
Abuse Investigation

In coordination with law enforcement and protective services, Seeds provides support services regarding abuse investigations. These services include investigative tools, techniques, interviews, and strategies utilized in investigations of sexual abuse of persons with developmental disabilities. Seeds investigative reports and findings have been utilized by the courts, law enforcement and state regulatory agencies.

     
Curriculum Development

Seeds Educational Services has numerous educational curricula available for use.  The curricula covers a variety of topics including assertiveness training, friendship skills, sexuality, relationship understanding, identifying abuse, and fire safety.  Seeds provides training to agencies that implement educational programs and will consult with any agency in designing educational materials.

     
Public Speaking And Outreach

Workshops and lectures are available to community organizations that are interested in learning more about people with disabilities. The goals are to facilitate community integration, foster supports and to teach effective strategies in dealing with the concerns of people with disabilities when in the public.

     
Parties And Socialization

Events and social gatherings are organized to assist students build relationships and practice newly acquired skills. Seeds currently hosts several events annually in the San Diego, California, USA area.
